Violet Mitchell is a poet and artist residing in Colorado. They earned an MFA in Poetry from the Mile-High MFA Program at Regis University. Violet has previously worked as a copyeditor, eBook designer, in bookstores, and in libraries. With over 120 published poems in various journals and magazines, Violet continues to write and is working on publishing a collection of poetry called “Dear Universe, Everything in Me You Eat” about space, black holes, and parallel universes.

 

In 2019, they received the Robert A. O’Sullivan, S.J. Memorial Award for Excellence in Writing from Regis University. Violet has taught and continues to teach workshops with Alchemy Author Services and the Tejon Collective. Their paintings have been featured in art galleries and as book covers. Their poems have been published with Heavy Feather Review, Word for Word, Inverted Syntax, South Broadway Ghost Society, along with several other journals. 

 

When they aren’t working, Violet is most likely reading graphic novels, painting, stocking up on Halloween decorations, or snow carving with their family (the Mitchells have competed internationally representing the United States in Snow Sculpting competitions at the Carnaval de Québec in Canada!)
